Gayla Sue Yother, 82, of Easley, South Carolina, beloved wife of the late Carl Lynn Yother, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at home.
Born on July 30, 1943, in Rector, Arkansas, to the late Floyd Aubrey Vangilder and the late Lucille Vonna Lucille Wilkins. Gayla was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For several years, she worked as a personnel director for Kmart until her retirement. Gayla was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and treasured spending time with those she loved. She was a quick learner with a curious mind, always eager to play solitaire, solve a puzzle or get lost in the pages of a good book. History was one of her passions, and she enjoyed reading about people and events that shaped the world.
Gayla will be remembered for her huge heart and gentle spirit. She touched the lives of many through her kindness, warmth, and love . Her memory will live in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Yother and Vanessa Ragland; her son, Mike Yother and his wife Dianne ; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Ragland, Nathaniel Ragland; Caleb Yother, Danielle Yother and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband of 60 years, Gayla is preceded in death by her sister, Alberta Kelley and a grandson Daniel James Yother.
