Geer H. Gibson

Geer H. Gibson, 92, of Six Mile, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Hospice of the Foothills Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Hampton and Truie King Gibson and loving husband of the late Florene Bolding Gibson for fifty-one years.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha Gibson of Six Mile, and Carolyn G. Alexander of Salem; five grandchildren, Stephanie Alexander of Six Mile, Richard Alexander (Dr. Megan) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jessia, Tanner and Lucus Gibson, all of Pickens; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Gibson was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Gibson, a son, John Gibson and by a son-in-law, R. Steve Alexander. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Pittman officiating assisted by Rev. Rick Hayes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at a reception in the old sanctuary of the church immediately following the committal service.
Mr. Gibson was a longtime member of Mountain View Baptist Church where served as deacon, church treasurer and was active in getting the Sunday School wing and the parsonage to be built. He dearly loved his church family.
