"Gene" Watkins was born January 11, 1930, to Willie M. and Dellie P. Jones of Clarkesville, Georgia. She passed away on April 6, 2010. Gene was the widow of William John Watkins, Jr., and is survived by sons Lyle K. "Skip" Watkins and Matthew J. Watkins of Clemson.


She was predeceased by brothers, Milligan, Wakeman and Waymon Jones and sisters Alice Shelnut, Maxie Seignious and Nancy Porter. She is survived by sisters-in-law Alice Jones, Mary Davidson and Linda Kimbrell all of the Demorest, Georgia area. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.


Gene was a gifted gardener and enjoyed a lifetime of blessings from the care she gave and the companionship she received from God's creatures. Those who knew Gene also knew her animal companions because they were never far apart. She leaves behind beloved companions, Leo and Patch.


She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church of Central, SC. Dr. Kurt McPherson will lead the memorial service at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 01:00PM. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday one hour following the memorial service.


Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
