Gennie Mae Ledford

Central – Gennie Mae Ledford, 90, widow of Charlie Ledford, passed away at her home Sunday, October 15, 2023. She was born in Oconee County April 22, 1933, a daughter of Jesse and Nettie Ladd Ward.

Gennie was a hard worker who worked for several years sewing flat sheets at the textile mill, and then at Fred’s and Family Dollar. She worked until she was 84! She liked to go to yard sales, doing crossword puzzles, traveling to the mountains and the beach, and playing the lottery. She loved doing things and spending time with her family.

Gennie is survived by three sons, Danny and wife, Elizabeth of Central, Randy and wife, Dustine of Clinton, and Keith and wife, Cynthia of Central; three brothers, Joe, Wallace, and Leylon Ward; two sisters, Ann Simmons, and Corrinda Simpson; five grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Charlie, Gennie was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Betty Barrett; and several siblings.   

A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM Monday October 16^th at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central.
