Dr. George Edgar Failing, 94, of 102 Fernwood Drive, Easley, married to the late Phyllis Ogden Failing for 67 years, died Monday, February 26, 2007.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Roy Augustus and Nellie Richardson Failing, Dr. Failing was ordained to ministry in The Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1938, Served as pastor to five local churches, was a college professor, served as denominational General Editor for Sunday School literature, "The Wesleyan Methodist", and "The Wesleyan Advocate". He wrote numerous articles and booklets and was contributing author/editor to other publications. He served as president of the Evangelical Press Association (1965-1967), was listed in Who's Who in America (1985-present), and was a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church and the North Carolina West District.

Surviving are a son, Lynn Failing of Black Mountian, NC; two daughters, Joy F. Bray and husband, Don, of Indianapolis, IN, and Jean F. Johnson and husband, Wilford, of St. Paul, MN; eight grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Pickens View Wesleyan Church with Revs. Lewis Edwards and W. D. James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday, prior to the service, in Heritage Hall of the church. Wesleyan Ministers will serve as honor guards at the service.

The family is at the residence.
