George Carlisle Jones, 100, husband of Sadie A. Jones, died at his home Monday, March 21.
A native of Walhalla, Mr. Jones was the son of the late George L. and Mary Corbin Jones. After graduation from Clemson University in 1932, Mr. Jones was employed by Walter Guest Construction Firm of Anderson, South Carolina. He later co-founded Industrial Builders, a commercial construction company, also of Anderson. In 1960, after selling his interest in Industrial Builders, he was employed by Clemson University in the Physical Plant Division where he remained until his retirement in 1976.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by his son Les Jones (Jane) of Seneca, daughter Lynne Griffin (Randy) of Six Mile, grandchildren Carlisle Jones, Blake Jones, Amy Sawyer, Kelly Crawford and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his 2 brothers; Alvin S. Jones and L. Frank Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC with Rev. Dr. Rusty Brock officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to11 AM prior to the service.
Burial to follow in Westview Cemetery, Walhalla, SC.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Ave., Clemson, SC 29631 or to the charity of one's choice.
