George Lamont Knupp, 92, husband of the late Denear McCauley Godfrey Knupp, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, in Greenville.

Born in Carterville, Illinois, to the late William and Minnie Davis Knupp, George served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1943 to 1945. He was an Industrial Engineer at Sangamo Electric in Illinois, but transferred to their Pickens location, where he worked for thirty-eight years until his retirement. Mr. Knupp was a member of the AF & AM Bates Lodge 189 in Easley and was also a member of Easley First Baptist Church, where he previously had served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Mr. Knupp is survived by a son, William E. "Bill" Knupp (Beth) of Taylors; a daughter, Sheryl Lynn "Sherri" Houston (Jerry) of St. Matthews; a step-son, James "Jimmy" Godfrey of Easley; a step-daughter, Diane Godfrey Martin of Norcross, GA; five grandchildren, Jeri Michelle Cottrell, Jason Houston, Alena Houston Fleming, Harris Knupp and Grayce Knupp; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to Mrs. Denear Knupp and his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Violet Mae Talley Knupp; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Reverend Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. Tuesday, prior to the service, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Easley First Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 East 1st Avenue, Easley, SC, 29640.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Evelyn Butler and the staff members at Emeritus of Greenville and Hospice Compassus for the care and compassion they showed Mr. Knupp.
