George Burdine (Bud) Nalley, Jr., 87, died peacefully at home on March 15, 2026. Born in Pickens County, Bud was the son of the late G.B. Nalley and LaVonne Edmonds (Tincy) Nalley. He was predeceased by his adored and loving wife Anita Lesley Nalley to whom he was married for 67 wonderful years and his sister, LaVonne Nalley Phillips.
Bud was a graduate of Easley High School in 1956 and Clemson University in 1960. During his time at Clemson, he was active in the Air Force ROTC, Pershing Rifle Company, Glee Club, as well as Tiger Brotherhood and Blue Key.
After graduation, Bud joined and expanded the family construction business into commercial property development. He had a vision of designing and developing projects on a larger scale and began building and leasing retail shopping centers to local and national retailers across the Southeast.
Throughout his life, Bud was active in many civic and business organizations in Pickens County and South Carolina. As a trusted business leader and community advocate, he served as Director and Chairman on bank boards, Rotary Club member, was awarded the Easley Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the year, was appointed as the SC Ambassador for Economic Development, and a former Chairman of the Economic Alliance of Pickens County. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian honor that reflects a lifetime of extraordinary service and contributions to community.
Bud was also a man of great faith and had served for many years as a deacon and elder at Easley Presbyterian Church as well as serving as a member of the Foundation Board for Presbyterian Communities of S.C. He also helped develop and expand projects with The Foothills Retirement Community of Easley and The Dream Center of Pickens County.
Bud's most favorite activities were when he was with his family. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many memorable adventures traveling worldwide with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. His favorite pastimes were fly fishing, golf, reading, and camping with his kids. He most especially enjoyed boating on local lakes, spending time in the mountains of NC, and cheering on the Tigers.
