George T. "Tommy" Reid, Jr.

October 2, 1951 — July 24, 2020

George Thomas "Tommy" Reid Jr., 68, husband of Carol Lynn Reid passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at a Greenville hospital. He was born in Anderson October 2, 1951, a son of George T. Reid, Sr. and Frances Rebecca Wilbanks Reid.

Tommy graduated from Daniel High School , class of 1969. He began his career for the USPS as a rural mail carrier in Central, SC and retired after 39 years of service. He served as the President of the South Carolina Rural Letter Carriers Association and as Assistant State Steward and State Steward of South Carolina. Tommy enjoyed woodworking, welding, camping, and fishing. He loved the outdoors.

In addition to his mother, Frances, Tommy is survived by his wife, Lynn; a son, George T. Reid, III (Ashley) and their children, William A., Cole T., and Claire L. of Fair Play; a daughter, Rebecca E. "Becky" Macijewski (Timothy) and their children, Hannah R. and Josie E. of Earles Grove; a stepson, Anthony W. Hucks, Jr. (Amanda) and their daughter, Reagan L. of Lake City; two brothers, Jesse William Reid of Pendleton and Greg Alan Reid (Shawna) of Central; nieces and nephews, Cheyenne, Connor, Jessica, and Jacob. Tommy was predeceased by his father in 2011.

A graveside service will be held 9:00 AM Thursday, July 30 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.
