George A. Schaller

George A. Schaller, 93, husband of the late, Phyllis Earlene Airesman Schaller, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Clemson Downs.
Born in Newark, OH, he was the son of the late, George Levi Schaller and Ruth Lucille Thompson Schaller Dodd. He was a retired accountant from Columbia Gas of Ohio and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Serving on the USS Pensacola, he received the Purple Heart during the invasion of Iwo Jima.
Before moving to Clemson, SC, he lived in Westerville, OH and Spring City, TN, and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are children, Beverly (Bob) Matz of Seneca, SC; David (Anne) Schaller of Dayton, OH and LuAnn (Pat) Albers of Hilliard, OH. Grandchildren are Earl Schaller, Jeff Matz, Beth Schaller Jordan, Dan Matz and Augie Albers. Great grandchildren are Avynn Schaller, Wyatt Matz, Hadley Matz, Everett Schaller and Ryan Matz.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date at Spring City Memorial Gardens, Spring City, TN with his beloved wife Phyllis of 70 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence Care, 114 East Main Street, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to the charity of one's choice.
