Georgie Cater Campbell, 94, wife of the late William “Woody” Campbell went to be with her Lord and savior on Saturday, April 5, 2025. A devoted matriarch and a beloved member of her community, Georgie was known for her unwavering love for God and her family, along with her steadfast commitment to embracing the beauty of life.
Born in Greenville, SC she was a daughter of the late Robert Noah Cater and Minnie Moody Cater. Ms. Campbell was a devoted member of Second Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
Throughout her life, Georgie possessed a heart of gold, embodying the essence of kindness and benevolence. With a servant's heart, she consistently opened her home to many, extending friendship and warmth to those fortunate enough to cross her threshold. Her remarkable ability to touch lives encompassed both familiar and newfound relationships; she was a guiding light, reminding us all of the beauty found in compassion and joy. Her humor shone brilliantly, as she could laugh at herself, imparting wisdom with a light heart.
In celebration of her faith, Georgie was a Godly woman, rooted deeply in her love for the Lord, which shaped her interactions with everyone. Her steadfast belief in the goodness of others helped forge unbreakable bonds that resided at the center of her life.
Her pride as a great cook and seamstress was evident through her culinary delights and the lovingly crafted quilts that adorned many homes. Each stitch and every dish conveyed her affection, creating not only sustenance and warmth but also cherished memories that will be woven into the story of her family for generations to come.
In addition to her husband of 70 years until his passing in 2018, and her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Fortune and Sara Cater and brother, Jack Cater.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Campbell Coleman (Bill) of Lugoff, SC; son, Brad Campbell (Lori) of Powdersville, SC; granddaughter, Heather Campbell Hughes (Shannon), great-grandchildren, Campbell Elizabeth Hughes, and Caleb James Hughes.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church of Greenville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 105 River St., Greenville, SC 29601.
