Lewis Gerald Hunter, 64, husband of Phronsia Porter Barksdale Hunter, died Monday, September 8, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Central, he was a son of the late Mary Etta Smith and Charles David Hunter, Sr. Gerald was a graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and a former employee with Duke Energy and the SC Department of Transportation. He was a member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church and a long time member of the Daniel Blue and Gold Club and supporter of Daniel High Athletics.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jeffrey Charles Hunter and his wife, Leslie of Central; step-sons, Courtney Barksdale of Liberty and Justin Barksdale of Pickens; brothers, David Hunter and wife Sue, Thomas Hunter and wife, Janet and Tony Hunter and wife, Rosemary all of Central; sister, Joyce Stephens and husband, Roger of Six Mile; step-grandchildren, Dylan Barksdale and Breanna Barksdale; and a very special friend and half-brother of his son Jeff, Corey Cromer.
A Celebration of Gerald's Life will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2014 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
The family will be at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Daniel High School Athletic Booster Club, 140 Blue and Gold Blvd, Central, SC 29630, The Fellowship Community Church, 1301 Greenville Highway, Liberty, SC 29657 or the charity of one's choice.
