Gerald Richard "Gerry" Spejewski

Gerald Richard “Gerry” Spejewski, 83, of Anderson, husband to Cynthia J. Spejewski, passed away December 12, 2025.

Born in East Chicago, IN, he was the son of the late Henry Spejewski and Carrie Fuss Spejewski. Gerry received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University. He had a long and decorated career as an English, Speech, and Drama teacher at Griffith High School in Griffith, IN, where he coached English and Fine Arts teams for the Indiana Academic Competitions for Excellence. He also served as a teachers’ representative in the Griffith AFT. Following his move to South Carolina, Gerry was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Fair Play and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, intercessor, and a member of the Chancel Choir. He also enjoyed his time delivering flowers for Flowers by the Lake. His greatest joy in life was his family and the time spent with them.

Gerry is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Cynthia J. Spejewski; daughters, Debra Ann Spejewski Jones (Bruce), Deanne Marie Spejewski McMullen (Dwayne), Christiane Murray (Thomas), and Kimberly Ann Spejewski, all of Indiana; brother, Eugene Spejewski (Norma) of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Vivian (Charles) Byrley of Virginia; grandchildren, Zach (Kendall), Alyssa (Stephen), Mason, Nakia, Christopher, Lauren, and Monica. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 193 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631. The family will receive friends following the service.
