Geraldine Mahaffey Brooks

Geraldine Mahaffey Brooks (Sadge), age 97, passed away peacefully at home in Pendleton, SC, on January 8, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Mahaffey and Francis Miller Mahaffey. She was born on December 13, 1920 in Warren, PA. On November 8, 1942 she married the love of her life, William E. Brooks, to whom she was married for 42 years. Sadge was a devoted and active member of University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC. Important to her, besides her Lord, was her family. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members with a love that was abounding. She was always there for them with a prayer, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, a handwritten note, or a delicious dessert. They loved her and will miss her greatly. She was a world class wife, mother, friend and cook. For the better part of her life
she was extremely active. Sadge loved to golf, bowl, bake, sew, knit, and read. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer at Clemson Downs for many years.

Sadge is survived by her children, Jeff Brooks, Billy Brooks, Roxanne Saad (Tony), and Todd Brooks (Laura) and her grandchildren Ashley Dawn Brooks Pringle, Lenny Crowe, Cody Brooks, Evan Brooks, and Adam Saad.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William E. Brooks and one son, Scott Brooks.

The family will receive friends at University Lutheran Church on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Geraldine's life will be held January 12, at 11:00 a.m. at University Lutheran Church with Reverend Jon Heiliger officiating.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
