Gertrude "Be" Rosenast Baas, 95, of the Foothills Presbyterian Retirement Community in Easley, SC, formerly of Keowee Key, SC, East Hampton, NY, and New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018. Be was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Charles W. Baas.
Be was born in Jersey City, NJ, a daughter of the late Albert Daniel Rosenast and the late Gertrude Jacquemont Rosenast. Be was a charming and gracious hostess; a role she cherished when accompanying Charles around the world during the 41 years he served as CFO of the American Bible Society. She was a lifelong tennis and bridge player, a passionate Master Gardener, and a dedicated volunteer to many organizations.
Surviving are two sons, Charles William Baas, Jr. (Ellen) and Bruce Warren Baas (Donald); and granddog, Sophie.
The family will host memorial services at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 4000 Highway 153, Greenville, SC 29611.
