Gertrude T. "Gertie" Corder

Gertrude Taylor "Gertie" Corder, 86, widow of Dr. W. Owens Corder, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Whittie Hall and Alice K. Taylor. She was a longtime member of the Pendleton First Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She retired from the U.S. Forest Service, Clemson University.
She is survived by sons Dr. Bill Corder and wife Caroline of Anderson and Rev. Terry Corder and wife Debbie of Jefferson, SC; daughter, Suzanne Black and husband Rev. Greg of Anderson; brother, Marvin Taylor of Columbia, sister Corine Gamble of Columbia; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters Earlene Durant, Edith Tenant; and brothers Richard Taylor and Roscoe Taylor.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Monday at Pendleton First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church from 12 Noon to 1:30pm prior to the service on Monday.
The family is at the home.
