Gertrude Couch Henelt

Gertrude Couch Henelt passed away June 27, 2012. Mrs. Henelt was born in Easley, SC in 1921, the eleventh of twelve children of the late Edward D. Couch, Sr. and Mamie Ellen Owens Couch.
Mrs. Henelt lived in Chicago, Illinois, Palm Beach, Florida and Summit, NJ before returning to South Carolina in 1968. She lived in Greenville, SC for 41 years before moving to Winston-Salem. While in Greenville, she was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church and the Poinsett Club.
Mrs. Henelt was preceded in death by her first husband, Anthony Henry Henelt, by her second husband, Roy Turner, and by ten siblings, Lloyd (Cuzzie) Couch, Domer (Edna) Couch, Houston Couch, Hubert (Essie) Couch, Jack (Mable) Couch, Mrs. Edith (Bob) Maddox, Mrs. Lois (Eugene) Findley, Mrs. Glator (Lewis) Noblitt, Mrs. Gladys (Claude) Walker and Mrs. Varo (Troy) McCoy.
She is survived be her children, Stan (Barbara) Henelt, of Winston-Salem, NC and Cynthia (Howard) Piper, of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Ward (Tami) Piper, Jennifer (Joel) Playford and Christie Piper, all of Tampa, Florida; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Bea (Edgar) Holder, of Pickens, SC.
The family will receive friends and family at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, Easley, SC, from 1:30 PM until 2:15 PM Saturday June 30, 2012. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM in the Chapel with the Reverend Jack Couch, nephew of Mrs. Henelt, officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Greenville, SC.
The family is very grateful to Debbie Williams for her devotion to Gertrude and the loving care she provided over recent months. The family also sincerely thanks Brenda Parnell.
Special thanks to the team at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem, who lovingly attended to Gertrude and helped the family navigate through the recent months.
