Gertrude Lewis

Born on June 24, 1907 in Northern Pickens County, Bessie Gertrude Lewis, of Countryside Village in Easley and widow of Henry Claude Lewis, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Hospice House of Anderson.
Gertrude was the last surviving of 12 children born to M. H. "Dock" and Elizabeth Baker Lewis. She was a retired employee with Mayfair Mills, a member of Glenwood Baptist Church for over 50 years before joining Brushy Creek Baptist Church in 1980. She taught Sunday school for a number of years and was also a volunteer at Palmetto Health Baptist of Easley.
Surviving are a daughter, Tottie Marchbanks and her husband Claude V. of Clemson; a granddaughter, Sherry Marchbanks and her husband Eric Hudgins of Cedar Mountain, NC; a grandson, Dr. Marshall Marchbanks and his wife Elaine of Edwards, Colorado; a great-granddaughter Jessica Lynn Marchbanks of Edwards, Colorado.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Revs. Mike Cothran and Rodney Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2 to 3 PM, Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of the daughter Mrs. Claude V. Marchbanks, 242 Grove Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.
