Dr. Ernest Gibson Shealy, 81, of Easley, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at National Healthcare in Mauldin.
Born March 31, 1930 in Batesburg, S.C., Dr. Shealy was the son of the late Ernest Gary "Bill" and Byrd Price Shealy. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and MUSC in 1956. He was a family practice physician for thirty years and he was well respected by his patients and peers. Dr. Shealy was an elder and deacon of Easley Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Pickens County School Board and the Easley Rotary Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a US Air Force Veteran.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Barbara Nichols Shealy; two sons, Gary Shealy (Wendy) of Charlotte, NC and Dale Shealy (Candy) of Simpsonville; a daughter, Kathryn Shealy of Simpsonville; and six grandchildren, Nicole Villaveces, Casey Shealy, Clay Shealy, Jason Shealy, Olivia Shealy, and Nathaniel Shealy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Wyman Shealy.
The memorial service will be 2:00 PM Monday at Easley Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Bill Seel officiating. A private committal service will be held prior to the memorial service.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 1988, Easley, SC 29641 or Easley Presbyterian Church, 200 South First Street, Easley, SC 29640.
Family members are at their respective homes, and they would like to express their gratitude to their loyal friends for their support through the years.
