Gladys Jeanine Wallace Bugg, 98, widow of Walter E. Bugg, resident of Jasmine Cottage, Wesley Commons, Greenwood, SC and longtime resident of Ashland, KY, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013. She was born on December 10, 1914 in Elkhorn City, KY, to parents John A. and Pearl Wallace.

Gladys taught Sunday School for many years at First United Methodist Church in Ashland, KY, where she was a member for over 60 years. As part of the greatest generation, she spent her war years making parachutes for American servicemen.

Surviving are her two children, son Timothy C. Bugg and wife Terri of Canandaigua, NY and daughter Virginia Lee Wallace and husband John C. of Easley, SC; 6 grandchildren: Dr. Stephanie Weaver of Chicago, IL; John Kouns of Phoenix, AZ; Lauren Bugg of New Orleans, LA; Dr. Jennifer Casey of Austin, TX; Marci Taylor of Chelsea, AL; and Jason Wallace of Seneca, SC; 9 great-grandchildren: Sophia Weaver, Rosalind Weaver, Ruth Isabel Weaver, Lilly Schexnaydre, Charlotte Kouns, Lydia Kouns, Jordan Taylor, Joshua Taylor, and Abigail Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her brother Sam Wallace and sisters Peg Patton, Florence Webb, Rose Cure, and Thelma Looney.

A memorial service will be at 2 PM, on Thursday, March 21, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, South Carolina. A memorial service in Ashland, KY will follow over the weekend with graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery.
