Gladys Owens Turner Tant, 89, of Easley, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011, at Omega Living Center in Greenville.
Born in Rosman, N.C., Mrs. Tant was a daughter of the late Fedillard and Harriet McCall Owens. She retired from J.P. Stevens Monaghan Plant after forty-eight years of service. Mrs. Tant was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Her hobbies included Gospel Music, auctions, flea markets, and bingo.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Diane Dalton, of Easley; four grandchildren, Tony Arthur Turner, Jr., Toby Griffin, Lynn Turner, and Shaun Dalton; and six great-grandchildren, T.J. Turner, Dillon Turner, Jacob and Zachary Griffin, Kai and Jovie Dalton; a step-son, Donald Scott (Donnie) Tant, of Easley; and two step-daughters, Alma Jean (Jeannie) Marchbanks Jaggers and Judy K. Freeman, both of Easley. Mrs. Tant was predeceased by her husbands, James Arthur Turner and Fred William Tant; a son, Tony Arthur Turner; three brothers, Sylvester McCall, Weldon Owens, and Ed McCall; a sister, Mildred Cauthren; and a grandson, Shane Dalton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Reverend Dr. Roger Couch and Rev. James Ellenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
