Glenn Gary Holliday, 78, husband of Imogene Young Holliday, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Born in Six Mile, a son of the late John D. Holliday and the late Vaudie Dillard Holliday, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed gardening, Clemson Football, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Glenn was a graduate of Daniel High School, North Greenville University, and Clemson University. He served for twenty-seven years as Anderson County Fire Commissioner and forty-five years as a volunteer firefighter with Three and Twenty Fire Department. He was a member of the Executive Board of S.C. Baptist Convention, a trustee at North Greenville University, a deacon at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, where he was a member for forty-three years, and also chaired four building projects. Glenn was the District Director of the ASCS US Department of Agriculture for thirty-seven years, he was presented the Silver Crescent in 2004, and he was a volunteer for Wren and Powdersville High Schools.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-six years, are a son, Greg Holliday (Lisa) of Easley; a daughter, Rebecca Drayton (Scott) of Easley; a brother, Jim Holliday (Martha) of Seneca; a sister, Martha Jaquith (Frank) of Easley; sisters-in-law, Rita Chapman of Nichols, SC and Juanita Jones (Randall) of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Grayson Holliday (Courtney) of Johns Island, SC, Thomas Drayton of Easley, and Ella Drayton of Easley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, J.D. Holliday, Clifton Holliday, LC Holliday, Hulett Holliday, and Coy Holliday; a sister, Kathleen Carmen; a brother-in-law, Mack Chapman; father-in-law, Fate Young; and mother-in-law, Georgia Young.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 210 Mt. Airy Church Road, Easley, SC 29642. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Three and Twenty Fire Department Anderson County, Station 19, P.O. Box 891, Easley, SC 29641 or to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 210 Mt. Airy Road, Easley, SC 29642.
