Glenn Eli Lyda, 73, of 113 Shaffner Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2007, at Rosemond Living Center in Pickens.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Henry and Opal Breedlove Lyda. Mr. Lyda retired as a self-employed truck driver and was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are his wife, Cecilia Martinez Lyda of the home; a son, Allen Lyda of Pickens; four daughters, Glenda Crain of Blue Ridge, Sherri Smith and Tina Beltran, both of Pickens, and Sandra Fortner of Easley; three brothers, Ray Lyda of Laurens, Roscoe Lyda of Greer, Lawrence Lyda of Pickens; five sisters, Leila Lewis, Christine Mickler, Margaret Gilstrap and Revele Garzone, all of Pickens, Edna Haliburton of Greenville; eleven grandchildren, Melanie Mauk, Dylan Crain, Brian Lyda, Janice Lyda, Blaine Lyda, Morgan Lyda, Jessica Smith, Vanessa Smith, Tiffany Ross, Santana Beltran, Brandon Lynch; nine great-grandchildren, Savanna Lawless, Noah Lawless, Logan Trotter, Hunter Monds, Taytham Ross, Tamryn Lee Ross, Peyton Lyda, Layla Lyda, Bryson Lyda; and his dog Poochie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Bernice Snipes; two brothers, Hiram Lyda, Grover Lyda; and a great-granddaughter, Lydia Lyda.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown with Reverends Jimmy Holiday, Johnny Corn, and David Roper officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Sandra Fortner; 117 Shaffner Drive; Easley, SC 29640.
