Gloria Darlene (Rose), Smith, 76, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Born on August 11,1949, in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Luther Smith and the late Dorothy Cooper Smith.
She attended Paris Mountain Church with her dear and faithful friend, Pat Stapleton, whom she had a special bond. She was known for her sharp mind and unwavering determination, her journey was marked by resilience and an enduring commitment to those she held dear.
Throughout her life, Gloria was a steadfast presence at Gene's Restaurant and Tommy’s Ham House (originally Country Ham House). Her role as a waitress was much more than a job; it was an expression of her hardworking nature and her genuine care for the people she served. She balanced each day with a mix of grace and grit, embodying a spirit that inspired both her colleagues and customers alike.
Her proudest accomplishments were not defined solely by her career but by the profound impact she had on those around her. She was beloved by many and had a way about her that would draw people to her.
Family gatherings were the heart of her world, a place where she felt most alive, surrounded by loved ones who cherished her sharp wit and comedic nature.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John Rose, Jr.; sister, Marcia Diane McKnight and special friend, Jerry Massey.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Pilgrim (Mark); granddaughter, Heather Leigh Warren (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Amelia Carol Warren and Ethan Richard Warren; sister, Sylvia Crouse (Larry); brothers, Tony Smith (Cathy) and Cooper Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dorothy Stanley with Pruitt Health, Pickens, for her care and friendship of Gloria.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with her funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel. Her burial will be held in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Though she has departed from this world, Gloria (Rose) Smith leaves behind memories of a determined woman who never hesitated to give her best. Her legacy of love, humor, and strength will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. She was truly a remarkable woman whose presence brightened many lives, and she will be deeply missed.
