Mr. Gordon Sutherland, 82, of 301 Crescent Dr., husband of the late Mary Lou Holcombe Sutherland, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at The Gardens at Eastside.

Born January 20, 1929 in Pickens County, he was the son of the late John and Lila Masters Sutherland. Mr. Sutherland graduated from Easley High School where he played football and baseball. He was proud to have been a catcher for the Arial Tigers and was instrumental in the building of the Arial Baseball Park. Mr. Sutherland was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason in The Bates Lodge No. 189 AFM, with over 50 years of membership. He was a retired supervisor with Engineer Custom Plastics (ECP) and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Mr. Sutherland is survived by his daughter, Dana McCollum (Roger) of Ohio; sisters, Etrulia Galloway and Nell Winchester; grandsons, Jordan McCollum and Justin-Clarke McCollum; great-grandchildren, Connor Lee McCollum and Jake Sutherland McCollum.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Georges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Escort of honor will be the Masons of Bates Lodge No. 189 AFM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
