Grace Joan Cherry McMillan, 87, formerly of Inverness Way, wife of the late George A. McMillan, died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at the Brian Center in Hendersonville, NC.

Born in Billings, MT, a daughter of the late Harold A. and Jeremina Chartland Cherry, Mrs. McMillan retired as a school teacher. Her career started in Portland, OR, and ended in South Georgia. It included a number of years in Tucson AZ, and Savannah, GA, as well as several years with her husband in the US Air Force Dependent Schools in Libya, North Africa and Euorpe. She received her B.S. Degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN, and her Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. McMillan was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Paulette McMillan of Buchanan, GA; two grandchildren, Jonette Barrett and Bridget Cash; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Cash and Tyler Cash. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McMillan was predeceased by a daughter, Alice McMillan, two sisters, Dorothy Cherry and Ruth Banks, and six brothers, Robert Cherry, Harold Cherry, Clarence Cherry and Lawrence Cherry, Charles Cherry and Edward Cherry.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nashville, GA. Burial will follow in Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Oscilla, GA.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be taken to Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, GA, where the family will receive friends from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Monday.
