Grady Wayne Brown, 90, of Easley, died on Tuesday morning, December 24, 2024.
Born in Pickens County on January 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Reverend Coman and Josephine Simmons Brown. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Brown, and two infant brothers, Kenneth and Conrad Brown.
Most of Wayne’s working life was spent in textiles. He worked at Madden Carmen for many years as a textile machinery salesman.
Wayne was the longtime song leader, a deacon, and chair of deacons, at Cedar Rock Baptist Church, Easley. He was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Easley since 1989.
He served in the National Guard for seventeen years.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, church activities, estate sales, gardening, singing hymns, and Clemson football.
Wayne is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Fredia; three daughters, Donna Hood (George), Tammy and Michelle Brown; a son, Jeff Brown; five grandchildren, Zachary (Heidi) and Tyler (Lauren) Hood, Josh and Justin Garrison, and Alicea D. Foster (JP); four great grandchildren; and three brothers, Rance, Chester, and Lynn Brown.
The family will receive friends at the Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, Easley, on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 12:30-1:45 PM. The funeral service will be in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Pickens.
Wayne’s grandchildren and their spouses will serve as pallbearers.
The family expresses their sincere thanksgiving to the loving staff of NHC Greenville for taking such good care of Wayne during his final years.
