Gregory H. Ammons
Pendleton
Gregory Herman Ammons, 56, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home with his wife, mother and children at his side.
Mr. Ammons was born in Charlotte, NC and was the son of Marjorie Robinson Ammons and the late Herman Ammons. He studied at both North Greenville University and was a music business major at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Greg was owner and sole photographer of Ammons Portrait Studio and Gallery in Pendleton and was a member of Pendleton First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Grace Evans Ammons; a daughter, Mary Catrin (Cat) Ammons and John Gregory Ammons. Greg took great pride in photographing the people and history of the Town of Pendleton. He often said that he was not sure if he fell in love with the town or with his wife, Grace, first. He was proud of his daughter, Cat, who is a voice student at the prestigious SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and took equal pleasure in his son John's budding love of playing football for Pendleton High School.
Pendleton has lost an artist, a devoted merchant and a man who loved his family and his town with great passion. Thankfully, we have the legacy of his beautiful photography with which to remember this special spirit.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Pendleton First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
