Grover Nelson "Frank" Smith

January 30, 1943 — August 26, 2020

Pickens, SC
Grover Nelson "Frank" Smith, Jr.

Grover Nelson "Frank" Smith, Jr., 77, of Pickens, husband to Judy Lynn Smith, passed away August 26, 2020.

Born in Morehead, KY, he was the son of the late Grover Nelson Smith, Sr. and Glenda Mae Branham Smith. Mr Smith served his country in the United States Navy. After 50 plus years he retired from the Plastics Industry.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Lynn Smith; daughter, Kimberly Sue Smith Albertson (Michael); grandson, Samuel Ray Albertson; brother, Gary Thomas Smith.

Frank & Judy met at work and they worked well together. Frank always said that Judy was the answer to his prayers, they were married for 48 yrs. Later he retired from Pickens County to help Judy care for his beloved mother in their home in her last years.

He will be remembered for his ingenuity, love for nature and traveling, off the wall humor & bold determined spirit. He was an overcomer that loved his family. He was especially proud of his grandson Samuel and his 2 dogs Dixie & Gergie.

Frank was of the Christian faith. Saved by the grace of Jesus Christ at a summer church camp for kids in Indiana, later he was baptized in a nearby Stoney Creek with his mother and brother.

Frank believed and lived by the grace of Jesus of Christ, which is free to all who will receive Him. He knew of his own imperfections & demonstrated his need of God's love, grace & forgiveness, He knew & believed that the Lord was the supplier of eternal life, forgiveness of sins, love & comfort.

Frank's legacy seeds of love were in various interactions throughout his life. He planted by helping people, widows & widowers, the fatherless, the stranger, the prisoner, the lonely, forgotten and those fighting various battles, never to be seen or in judgment or for payment only to glorify God and draw others toward love. This he learned from watching his mother & father, all was done out the love of God and others.

His life verse was Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven".

Special thank you to Rev. Charles Hendricks, Dr. Chelsea R. Smith & Dr. Katherine Lumpkin for your compassionate care of Mr. Smith during his time of need.
