Hal Young Garrett, 82, of Central passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Central, a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Korean War Veteran, a member of the Central Zoning committee, numerous committees in the town of Central, and was co-owner of Central Concrete and Plaster.
He was a loyal fan of Daniel High School, a long time member of the Daniel Booster Club, and was known as "The Voice of the Daniel Lions" for over 47 years.
Mr. Garrett was an IPTAY member since inception and a devoted Clemson fan. Most importantly, Hal was a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, and friend.
Surviving are his wife Barbara Carson (Bobby) Garrett; two sons, David Hal and Robert Glen (Edith) Garrett, both of Central; five daughters, Christie Garrett (Martin Jones) of Cross Hill, Jane Garrett Funchess (Mark) of Central, Tracy Garrett Pratt (Scott) of Central, Jill Garrett Sims (Sonny) of Six Mile, Wendy Garrett Senn (Richie) of Clemson; two sisters, Lillian Begley of Pickens and Ruth Wells of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Cassoundra Burkett, Karon Donald, Tanya Mikkelson, Kyle Merck, Garrett Merck, David Zachary Garrett, Carson Mark Funchess, James Vandiver Patterson III, John Mason Sims III, Emma Young Senn, Trevor David Senn, and Addison Jane Garrett; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Garrett was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Lillie Cecille Young Garrett; two brothers, Jake and T. M. (Junebug) Garrett; two grandchildren, Isaac Thomas Garrett and Jo Holladay Funchess.
A service to celebrate Hal's life will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 3:00 P. M. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
