Harold J. Bates, Sr.

Harold James Bates, Sr., 81, of 403 Henry Street, died Thursday March 8, 2007 at his home.
Born in Savannah, New York, he was a son of the late Jesse James and Irene Wheeler Bates. Mr. Bates was a U.S. Marine Veteran of W.W. II and retired from the Naval Research Lab. He was a member of the Marine Corp Association and the V.F.W. Post 5093. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise Bates Eagen and her husband, Edward G., of West Columbia and Linda Bates Quinn and her husband, Chris, of Easley ; a brother, Ed Bates, of Upstate New York ; two sisters, Ethel Wright and Barbara Colland, both of Upstate New York and a grandson, Jimmy Scott Harper, III, of Anderson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Edith Tinsley Bates and a son, Harold "Hal" James Bates, Jr.
Funeral Services will be Sunday at 2:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown with Military Honors.
The family is at the home of Linda and Chris Quinn, 301 Satterfield Road, Easley, and will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
