Harold Bryant, Jr.

Harold Orr Bryant, Jr., 90, husband of the late Jean Pike Bryant and Vera Copeland Bryant, passed away December 1, 2012 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home in Anderson.
Born in Abbeville, SC, to the late Harold and Maryann Alice Crow Bryant, Sr., Harold, Jr. served in the U.S. Navy for five years as a Gunners Mate, Second Class on the USS Oconto, USS Brush, USS Mauna Loa, and the USS William C. Cole in the South Pacific during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled in Clemson College where he met his wife, Jean. He graduated in 1951 and began working in textiles. He had a wonderful career and retired as the head dye chemist over several Milliken Plants. Mr. Bryant was a family man who loved his grandchildren; he was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing golf and watching the Atlanta Braves and his Clemson Tigers. He was a long time IPTAY supporter, a Mason, and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Bryant (Linda) of Lexington, and Kenny Bryant (Patty) of Warner Robins, GA; a daughter, Dottie Burdette of Townsville; three step-sons, David Myhand (Wendy), Allen Myhand, and Phillip Myhand (Sherry); one step-daughter, Susan Barfield; twenty-five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wives and parents, he was predeceased by a son, George Michael Bryant; a step-son, Mark Myhand; four brothers, William Bryant, Earnest Bryant, Jake Bryant, and Oscar Bryant; and four sisters, Annie Bryant Wilson, Lilly Bryant Sanders, Christine Bryant Kinsler, and Pauline Bryant Skelton.
A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
