Harry Cleveland (Hal) Hagood II, 69, of Easley, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Greenville, Mr. Hagood was the son of the late William Earle (Jack) and Ellen Sitton Hagood. He attended Northside School in Easley and Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia. He graduated from Darlington South in Rome, Georgia and attended Clemson University. Also, Mr. Hagood graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, Columbia, South Carolina in the Law Enforcement Course, Detectives and Investigators Course and the Jail Course.
Mr. Hagood was a retired career U.S. Army Veteran with more than forty years experience in law enforcement. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster); Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster); Army Achievement Medal; Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); Korean Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; and the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Hagood was a Clemson University IPTAY Member for forty-nine years and was serving as an IPTAY Representative. He was a charter member of Wade Hampton Lodge #404 A.F.M. in Greenville. Mr. Hagood was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 52 and was a Past Chef De Gare of the Forty and Eight, Voiture 1244, in Anderson. He was a past president of the Andrew Pickens Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, and he was a member of the Pickens County Historical Society. He was a Life Member of the V.F.W. and was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church. Previously he served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Anniston, Alabama.
Surviving are his wife, Maggie Wilson Hagood, of the home; two sons, Harry Cleveland (Hank) Hagood, III of Venice, Florida and Jack Mauldin Hagood of Greenville; two grandchildren, Jacob Mauldin Hagood and Hannah Marie Hagood; and a step-son Randy Stephen Taylor, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Hagood.
Graveside funeral services with full military rites will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Hagood Family Cemetery in Pickens.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Monday.
