Harry John Wilkinson, Jr., husband of Nancy Smith Wilkinson of 210 Westminster Drive, Pendleton, SC, died August 11, 2010.
Born in Anderson, SC, Harry grew up in Clemson, SC where he enjoyed all of the advantages of a small, southern, university town. He was the son of the late Major Harry John Wilkinson, Sr., and Jimmie Louise Dodd Wilkinson of Clemson, SC. The values that Harry learned in a Christian and military family, influenced and guided him throughout his life and were a cornerstone of his character. Harry graduated from Presbyterian College. He served in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. He and his family have been members of the Pendleton United Methodist Church since 1968. He was the owner and operator of Wilkinson Realty and Insurance Agency on the Pendleton square for 42 years. Harry was an active participant in his town and community and was vitally interested in their welfare.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife are his daughters and sons in law. They are Colonel Matt and Shaley Higginbotham, Vandy Owens, Ted and Ansley Schindler, and Edie Wilkinson. Harry's seven grandchildren Travis and Nate Higginbotham, Savannah and Mary Grace Owens, Jared and Madison Schindler, and Chandler Brooke Wilkinson were his pride and joy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 13, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held at Pendleton United Methodist Church on Broad Street in Pendleton, SC, on Saturday, August 14 at 11:00 am. A private family burial will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Pendleton United Methodist Church, Broad Street, Pendleton, SC, 29670
