Hayne Jones Gillespie, 76, of 217 Stewart Road, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Furman and Mary Smith Gillespie, he was a life-long resident of Liberty and a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Cole Gillespie of the home; a son, Rick Gillespie and wife, Starr of Liberty; two daughters, Renee Skipper and husband, Ricky of Liberty and Melissa Stevenson and husband, Alex of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Erin Gillespie, Michael Gillespie, Holly Gillespie, Daniel Skipper, Kristin Skipper, Mary Stevenson and Kaitlyn Stevenson; five sisters, Mildred Watson of Liberty, Miriam Fuller of Missouri, Carolyn Hamlin of Easley, Alta Cochran of Anderson and Tamah Jones of Easley; and one brother, Glen Gillespie of West Columbia.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Gillespie and a sister, Martha Gillespie.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Thursday at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Revs. Doug Goss and Alex Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30, Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 PM, Thursday prior to the service.

The family is at the home.
