Hazel Juanita Brooks

April 4, 1937 — June 3, 2026

Easley, SC

On Wednesday June 3, 2026, Jesus called our precious Hazel Juanita Brooks (89) home to be reunited with her family. Born on April 4, 1937, to the late Frank Brooks and Olean Holcombe Brooks. She was raised and well known in the Glenwood Mill community of Easley. Hazel was the oldest of 4 and showcased that title perfectly as she kept everyone in line including her many nieces and nephews that she looked after. Her child-like joy and love for her family were contagious. Hazel had an impeccable memory and never forgot a birthday or anybody she met. Hazel was a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church and was a faithful prayer warrior. Hazel was a consumer with the Pickens County Board of Disabilities and worked at Better Skills for many years. Hazel taught countless people how to love and treat those with different abilities, and her legacy will live on through her beautiful family.

Hazel is survived by brothers, B.F. (Kathie) Brooks of Columbia, Larry Brooks of Easley, sister, Maxine Steed of Easley. Nieces and nephews, Tonya Brooks-Fling (Daryl), Karen Brooks-Wells (Gordon), Steve Brooks (Dawn), Veronica Jones, David Brooks (Lindsay), Denise Canup (Steve), Kelley Robinson (Frankie), Amy Kelley (Jason), Jeff Trotter (Nancy), Mark Manders, David Manders (Shari), James Manders (Hope), Andrew Manders (Angela). She is also survived by 34 great nieces and nephews, 15 great-great nieces and nephews and many special cousins in the Brooks and Holcombe families.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by grandparents Oscar and Mary Whitlock Brooks, Ambrose and Ola Riddle Holcombe, and a great niece Landry Roper.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Manna Post Acute and Patriot Hospice.
