Hazel Pittman Merritt, 83, of 1902 Powdersville Road, passed away peacefully after a long and active life, Saturday September 6, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. Merritt was born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Roman "Buddie" and Katie Sentell Pittman. She retired from Garrett's Clothing Company and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Surviving are twin daughters, Cathie Merritt Johnston and Connie Merritt Knight (Dennis), all of Easley; a son Tony Curtis Merritt (Denise), of Easley; sisters, Bobbie Senick (Joseph) and Carolyn Knight (Bobby), all of Greenville ; grandchildren, Rose Knight, Jessica Merritt, T.J. Merritt and Katie Merritt, all of Easley ; step-grandchildren, James Johnston, Alex Johnston and Kathryn Johnston, all of Essex, England ; and a special family friend, Charlie Strickland, of New Jersey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis S. Merritt ; brothers, William Pittman, Douglas Pittman, Aireal Pittman and Carlos Pittman ; and a sister, June Emory.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Victory Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Connie and Dennis Knight, 204 Yorktown Court, Easley, and will receive friends Tuesday from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road.
