Hazel E. Rice, 90, of Magnolias of Easley, formerly of Swansgate Place of Greenville, died Wednesday February 21, 2007 after a period of declining health.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Lemuel and Sarah Sloan Rice and was the last of their ten children. Miss Rice worked in the textile industry for many years at Mills Mill and later retired from J. P. Stevens & Co. - Dunean Plant. She was the last surviving Charter Member of Tremont Church of God where she was a member of the Unity Sunday School Class, The Ladies and Men's Prayer Band and the Shut-in Ministry.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Vesta R. Carman, Carrie Lee R. Tarrant, Lillian R. Hunt, Christine R. Sexton, and Beulah R. Southerland; and four brothers, Ira, Ovie, Louie, and Roy Rice.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday February 23, 2007 at Tremont Church of God with the Reverends Tim A. Kerns and Richard E. Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Easley.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM Friday at the church.
