Mrs. Hazell Virginia Coggins, 86, of 148 Crumpton Lane, loving wife of the late Roy Lindsey Coggins, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Coggins, known affectionately as Virginia, was born in Salem, SC on November 9, 1928 to the late Henry and Lettie Rochester Crumpton. Mrs. Coggins was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for the Willing Workers Class for 47 years. She was also involved in the Joyce Smith Mission Group and active in many church activities. She retired after 35 years of service as a seamstress from the Rental Uniform Service, now Cintas. Sewing was her passion, having made most of her children's dresses and clothing throughout the years. She loved to quilt, and gave all of her grandchildren quilts for Christmas a few years ago. She loved to spend time with her family, and especially loved babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by two Daughters; Linda Jean Waldrop and her husband Tim, and Ginnie Lynn Bishop and her husband Dale, both of Easley; a sister, Betty Jean Moss and her husband Ernest, of Simpsonville; a son-in-law, Tony White of Anderson; and a daughter-in-law, Constance Coggins of Athens, GA. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband of 57 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Edward Coggins; and a daughter, Brenda Sue White.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family asks that for the service, members of the Bowers Emergency Services serve as active pallbearers, and members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Classes 1 & 2 serve as honorary escorts.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
