Helen Jane Flesner Brown Hopkins (Jane) took her last breath at home just off her dock on Lake Hartwell after watching the fireworks on Fourth of July Eve, 2026, with the full love of Jesus Christ and her family in her heart.
Born in Bartlesville, OK, Jane was the daughter of the late Helen and Lester Flesner. A graduate of the University of Houston, she was a pioneering female small business owner. She saw young talent in her real estate company and nurtured it. A world traveler, a much-too-lucky card player and a loved and respected Clemson community leader, she embodied a life of love and joy. She was an active member of Pendleton Methodist Church where she and her Covenant Sisters studied the Bible and strived to live a life pleasing to God every day. She was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother and she did love her Clemson Tigers. She was a rock to many, and a blessing to us all.
First and foremost, Jane devoted herself to the people that she loved. She married her beloved husband Bobby Hopkins on Thanksgiving Day, 2001, together creating a family full of love and joy. They created a welcoming home overflowing with laughter, lots of good food, and the joyful chaos of a game of spades or dominos. It was a destination for family and friends, her Super Bowl being Beef Wellington served at Christmas. Jane and Bobby loved life and lived it well together: traveling, playing cards, serving at church, saying "Go Tigers!" wherever they went, and pouring into their family's lives. The Bible says the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, serve as evidence of spiritual growth and a transformed life, reflecting God’s character in daily actions. We will miss her fiercely, but she led a full life and left with a heart full of love for her family, friends and Jesus Christ.
We are comforted knowing she is restored and pain free, with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
Surviving are her daughters, Stephanie (Dave) Cookson of Sunset, Wendy (Tom) Weldon of Ringgold, GA, and Michelle (Chuck) Adams of Seneca; sons, Robby (Ashley Fullenkamp) Hopkins of Atlanta, GA and Chris (Casey) Hopkins of Anderson; grandchildren, Kirsten Brown, Charleigh, Clive, and Dane Hopkins, Lauren (Houston) Kitts, Sean Stephansen, Andy, Hank, Trey, and Renee Weldon; great grandchildren, Emerson and Walker Kitts; brother, William (Pam) Flesner of Santa Fe, NM and Exuma, The Bahamas; Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bobby Hopkins.
Celebration of life services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 11th at Pendleton Methodist Church, 217 S Broad St., Pendleton. Orange and purple attire requested. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
