Mrs. Helen Stewart Gravley, 86, of Pickens, loving wife of the late James Paul Gravley, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015.
Helen was born in Liberty, SC on March 13, 1929 to the late James Henry and Flora Jane Sentell Stewart. She graduated from Easley High School in the Class of 1947 and was a homemaker. She loved to do genealogy research; loved her Lord and Savior, her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of her extended family. She once wrote "James and I were not rich or poor, we were just blessed"; and always ended her prayers "And if I know my heart, Lord, I love you". Helen loved her church; Tabernacle Baptist in Greenville; and her pastor and his family.
Helen is survived by two sons; Jimmy Gravley and Greg Gravley (Judith), both of Pickens; a daughter; Donna Cantrell (Jerry "Randy"), of Salem; a brother; Buddy Wayne Stewart (Juanita), of Pickens; and two sisters; Doris Coker of Waterloo, SC; and Lois Perry of Cedar Mountain, NC. Helen is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Susan Hutton (Jim), Brian Cantrell, Sonia Cantrell, Amanda Tallman (Barry), Audrey Grant (Justin), Jonathan Gravley (Jessica), Andrew Gravley (Nikki), Jessica Taylor (Beau), Anna Gravley, Ashlee Gravley, Jacob Gravley, and Alan Gravley; and twelve great-grandchildren; Houston Hutton, Sabrina Wicks, Harrison Hutton, Kylie Linn, Landon Tallman, Lauren Tallman, Breanna Taylor, Emilee Rose Gravley, Peyton Grant, Owen Gravley, Luke Gravley, and Brady Taylor.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Sara Anders; and a great-granddaughter; Suellen Hutton.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642, with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Aiken and the Rev. Don McQueen officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Judith, for opening up their home to her and for all the care and concern that Judith gave to Helen until her passing.
