Helen Louise Johnson of Brownsville, TX, and formerly of Birmingham, AL, passed away at the age of 89 in Brownsville on February 16, 2007. Her remains will be laid to rest in the Pickens Chapel Family Cemetery.

Born in Adel, GA, on Nov. 3, 1917, Mrs. Johnson was a direct descendant of Jessie James. She moved to Brownsville, TX in 1946 and spent the remainder of her life in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.

She and her late husband, Robert Addison Johnson (Pepper) owned and operated the family business, Johnson Office Equipment in Brownsville, for 39 years.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, James Harper Farrior and Rebecca Pearce; her husband, Robert Addison Johnson (Pepper) and by her son, Robert Benjamin Johnson.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Robert David Johnson of Fort Worth, TX, James Marshall Johnson of Burleson, TX, Michelle Denice Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX and Cindy Lynn Johnson Bordeaux of Chapin, SC; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, November 24, 2010, in the Pickens Chapel Family Cemetery in Easley, SC.
