Helen Anthony McCombs, 86, of 603 South E Street, wife of the late William Eugene "Gene" McCombs, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late John Jacob and Olive Jane Hendricks Anthony, Mrs. McCombs was formerly employed with Cassels Buying Office, Fairlane-Litchfield Company and Kearns Corp. She was a charter member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Boroughs of Easley, and Carol Dyer and husband, Joe, of Six Mile; three grandchildren, Danny Farr and wife, Lynn, of Easley, Cindy Derrick and husband, Mark, of Gaithersburg, MD, and Alicia Clinger and husband, Glenn, of Easley; two great-granddaughters, Jordan Elizabeth Derrick and Ashley Gene Derrick; two half-brothers, Frank Anthony of Simpsonville, and William Anthony of Marietta, GA; and two half-sisters, Vicki Brooks of Greenville, and Mary Lee Michaels of Florida. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McCombs was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Rodney Jeanes officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 501 Rampey Street, Easley, SC 29640.

The family is at the home of Dorothy Boroughs, 316 Katherine Street, Easley, SC 29640.
