Helen M. Stevens, 89, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Oconee Medical Center.

Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Eva Powers Mauldin. She was retired from J. P. Stevens, a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson where she taught Sunday School for more than 40 years and served as chairman and member of the flower committee, and was a member of the Sarah Cooper Mission.

She is survived by her son, Edward J. (Marie) Stevens of Aiken, SC; daughters, Judy (Mike) Grieco of Gadsen, AL, Linda (Terry) Jackson of Taylors, SC and Helen (Forest) Murphy of Central, SC; brother, Thomas M. (Robbye) Mauldin; and sister, Robbie F. Maulding both of Clemson; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, R. Allen and Robert S. Stevens; brothers Gaines Smith, James, Jack George, John and Joe Mauldin; and sisters, Bessie M. Black and Doretta M. Byrd.

A Committal service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Central followed by a Memorial Serice in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

The family wishes to say special thanks to members of her circle who faithfully came for visits and to caregiver and special friend Debra Thompson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clemson, or to the charity of one's choice.
