Henry Fant Holder, 93, of Parkway Drive, husband of the late Benice Hunter Holder, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Emeritus of Greenville.
Born in Pickens County on May 21, 1919 to the late Benjamin and Florence Fergerson Holder, Mr. Holder was formerly employed with the Pickens County School District and later retired from the Easley Post Office, where he was a rural letter carrier. He graduated from Easley High School and served four years in the US Army as a supply Sergeant during World War II. During the war, Mr. Holder served in Puerto Rico, Idaho and other stateside locations prior to being stationed in India and Burma during the war effort.
Mr. Holder married Benice Hunter on May 19, 1945. She passed away in 1992. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Holder was predeceased by twelve siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Beverly Holder Carter, her husband, Ken, and their daughter, Kathleen, of Grove City, PA, as well as his brother-in-law and wife, Garvin and Carol Hunter, and his sisters-in-law, Avenell Welborn and Frances Turner and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Holder was an outstanding member of First Baptist Church, Easley, a member of Bates Masonic Lodge and a member of the Easley Lions Club, for 62 years.
Cryptside services, with military honors, will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.
The family will receive friends in the mausoleum immediately following the service.
