Henry "Mitch" Reynolds, 94 passed away Friday, February 7, 2020. He was born January 26, 1926 in Edgefield, SC, a son of the late Henry Mitchell Reynolds and Ruth Tompkins Reynolds. He was a graduate of Edgefield High School and Clemson College.
Mitch was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, having served in the South Pacific Theater with the Seventh Fleet. He was a member of the Clemson United Methodist Church. As an active member Mitch served on many boards and committees over the years.
He was a member of the Clemson-Calhoun Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mitch was a member of the advisory board at the First Citizens Bank in Clemson for many years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Clemson Community Care as they moved to a location in Clemson, then to Central, and finally into a new building in Clemson. Mitch was an Emeritus senior member of the American Association of Chemists and Colorists. He held management positions with JP Stevens & Company for 39 years, retiring in 1989.
After retirement Mitch worked as a textile wet processing consultant for several years. He was an avid and lifelong outdoorsman participating in hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mitch is survived by two daughters, Susan Reynolds of Seneca, SC, and Ruth Nuckols (Jim) of Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Sara Holcombe of Jupiter, FL, Philip Gamber of Bentonville, AK, Mitch Stewart of Knoxville, TN, Nick Stewart of Greenville, SC, and Lindsay Haldeman of Clemson, SC; and great grandchildren, Dylan Holcombe, Abigail, Tobias, and Oakley Haldeman; and Reynolds and Mary Mitchell Stewart. In addition to his parents, Mitch was predeceased his beloved wife, Nancy Padget Reynolds; and a daughter, Nancy Anne Gamber.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 15 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Rd., Central. Interment with military honors will be afterwards at the Old Stone Church Cemetery in Clemson.
The family will receive friends from 2:15 to 2:50 prior to the service.
