Herman M. Barr

Herman Melvin Barr, 88, husband of the late Burney Young Barr, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Pickens County, the son of the late Henry Harrison and Ida Ballentine Barr, Mr. Barr retired as a supervisor and foreman with Platt Saco Lowell Corp. after twenty-four years of service and also retired as owner of Barr Farms. He was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church, and was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Melvin Barr of the home. Mr. Barr was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Fueral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Thad Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Neighbors, close friends and church members will serve as honorary escort.
Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
