Hildegard Davis, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2011, in Seneca, SC. She is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Kathleen Davis from Knoxville, TN, and Judy Benson from Seneca, SC, her son-in-law, Paul Benson, two grandchildren, Lauren Todd (Huntsville, AL) and Paul Benson IV (Austin, TX), their spouses, Mark Todd and Molly Waguespack Benson, and five great grandchildren, Andrew and Jason Todd, and Harrison, Davis, and Lydia Benson. Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, James Carlton Davis.

Hilde was born in Beijing and reared in China. She met her future husband in Shanghai. They married in 1937 in Shanghai and moved to New York and then to Pearl Harbor. She was a Pearl Harbor survivor.

For the first half of their marriage, Hilde and JC followed his career in the U.S. Navy, moving from coast to coast and overseas. After retirement from the Navy, they lived in Florence, SC, and were members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. After twenty years, they moved to Surfside Beach and were members of Shepard of the Sea Lutheran Church. Mrs. Davis has been living in Seneca for the past five and a half years.

A memorial service will be held on October 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. A private committal will be held at the National Cemetery in Florence.
