Gene Pace

Horace Eugene "Gene" Pace, 85, entered eternity on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was surrounded by family at home.
Born in Pickens, SC, the son of Jesse and Ola Pace, he was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Alma Martin Pace, sons Alan Pace (Glenda), Steve Pace, daughter Gail Grant (Barry), grandchildren Travis Pace (Dixie), Kacey O'Kelley (Coley), Elli Pace, Sophie Pace, Gabi Pace, great grandchildren Ashton Goodnough, Savannah Pace, Landon Pace and one great great grandchild Jaxon Tate.
Gene grew up in Liberty, SC and served in the Army during the Korean War. A gifted guitarist and vocalist, he sang in a county music band that entertained the troops.
He retired from Saco-Lowell after working 44 years as a process engineer.
Gene loved Easley First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, sang in the choir and taught 5th grade Sunday School for many years.
Some of his favorite hobbies were singing, fishing and cars.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown, 305 West Main Street, Easley, SC.
There will be a public memorial service at 2 pm Thursday Jan. 3 at Easley First Baptist Church, 300 East 1st Ave. Easley, SC. Visitation will be available one-hour prior to service. A private graveside service for family will take place earlier Thursday morning prior to the memorial service.
Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Pace to Easley First Baptist Church to the "For Generations to Come" fund.
