Houston Porter McConnell, 82, of 192 Diane Drive, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at his home.
Born in Fanning County, Georgia, Mr. McConnell was a son of the late Burley and Lillie Beaver McConnell. He was a fence erector for Anchor Fence Company and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. McConnell was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are four sons, Larry McConnell and his wife, Ida, of Greenville, Roger McConnell of the home, Kevin McConnell and his wife, Trudy, of Lake Toxaway, N.C. and Keith McConnell of Cashiers, N.C.; one daughter, Kimberly McConnell Stewart and her husband, Scott, of Franklin, N.C.; one brother, Clifford McConnell of Acworth, Georgia; three sisters, Leona McConnell Dowell, of Brevard, N.C.; Mary McConnell Morrison, of Marietta, Georgia, and Anne McConnell Morgan, of Blairsville, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. McConnell was predeceased by a sister, Parlee McConnell Nations.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Pisgah Gardens in Brevard, N.C.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley.
The family is at the home.
